Our talented and environmentally conscious students have entered the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation's Plastic Free Hawaiʻi Mural Contest—and they need your votes to win by April 18.
Some of our Art Enrichment students designed a stunning mural featuring the ocean, beach, trees, mountains, sky, and sun, all crafted from an extensive collection of marine debris and single-use plastics donated by Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii.
The students carefully sorted the materials into blue, natural, and black hues, blending artistic expression with a powerful environmental message. The materials included bottle caps, shells, and more.
Art teacher Ms. Avery shared that this year’s contest theme is "Save the Bees, Protect the Trees, Clean the Seas!"
The winning school will be awarded a water refill station.
The mural will be displayed at the Plastic Free Hawaiʻi Art Show at the Kōkua Learning Farm in Haleiwa on Friday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It will also be at the K-8 Art Night on Friday, April 25, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
