Athletic Director Ken Powell is excited to launch Esports at the K-8 Campus for seventh and eighth graders for the upcoming school year.

Students will have fun, make friends, and learn skills that could lead to college scholarships and Esports degrees. Students learn communication, adaptability, sportsmanship, decision-making, collaboration, and other skills. To learn more about Esports, watch this video.

Assets School's first Esports team at the High School debuted this year.  Students practiced and participated in games. They competed in the Hawaii High School Athletic Association with their first match on Oct. 5. The team won some matches in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate under the leadership of our Tech Coordinator Jeff Kajiyama. 

The students who competed in both the Fall and the Spring seasons include Carlos '24, Brady '24, Kayla '23, and Haley '23.  

Students who battled the other Esports team in the Fall season include Ian '26, Evan '23, Mason '26, Salutatorian Michael '23, and Tyler '23.

"I enjoyed the teamwork, and I am happy Assets launched it this year!" said Haley '23. "It's fun, and we got to play against other schools. I learned the rules for Esports, and I learned 'no backseat gaming.' That means don't talk when others are playing just like in golf."

Esports competitions continue into the collegiate level.
