Learn Entrepreneurship at Great Minds Academy This Summer

For as long as Miya ‘26 can remember, art has been more than just a hobby—it’s been a way to express emotions words can’t quite capture. She turned that passion into a business, navigating the world of commissions, online sales, and digital marketing with her business Heavensent.

“Right now, I mainly work with customers online, as commissions are the structure of my business,” Miya said. “Most clients find me through word of mouth or online communities, and I sometimes advertise on servers. My website is still a work in progress, but I plan to focus more on online sales this year.”

Like many young entrepreneurs, she’s constantly learning—especially regarding social media. “I’m currently diving into social media algorithms to expand my reach,” she explained.

The journey hasn’t been without challenges. Staying motivated and meeting deadlines is crucial in a business where professionalism matters.

“Customers don’t typically wait, and deadlines are absolutely crucial,” Miya emphasized. “I always get things done on time, though I sometimes push tasks to the last minute.”

As Miya grows, she asks, “What makes my work stand out? What draws people to buy from me, rather than other businesses? How can I improve my marketing and expand my reach?”

Despite the challenges, Miya’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is clear: Just start.

“If you have an idea, act on it. Don’t wait until you feel ‘ready’ because that moment may never come. As soon as you think of something, take the first step, even if it’s just investing $100. You don’t need to overthink it. If you pour passion into something you love, success will follow inevitably. That’s what makes this process so exciting and beautiful,” said Miya.
