Team Waffles earns two awards at FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Hawaii Regional

Congratulations to our Team Waffles for being honored with two awards at the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Hawaii Regional today!

Our team earned the 2023 Highest Rookie Seed Award. This means our students were the highest-ranked of the three rookie teams this year. Team Waffles ranked 15 out of 37 total teams from Hawaii, California, Washington, Taipei, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Indonesia.

Team Waffles was also selected by judges for the Rookie Inspiration Award for our students' enthusiasm, innovation, and inspiration. The award is given to a rookie team for outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school, as well as in their community.

The guidelines to receive this award are:

· Effectiveness and inventiveness of the team’s efforts to recruit students to engineering.

· Extent and effectiveness of the team’s community outreach efforts.

· A commitment to science and technology education among the team.

· Ability to communicate an understanding of the FIRST mission at the competition and away from it.

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Hawaii Regional was held from Wednesday, March 22 to Saturday, March 25 at the Stan Sheriff Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Go Team Waffles! 

As the State Championship winners in FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics, our FTC Team Waffles will represent Hawaii at the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas April 19 through April 21.

Team Waffles earned two awards at the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Hawaii Regional.
