Assets High School Hawaiian Language, Hawaiian History, and Aukahi Ka Muliwai Scholarship students joined the ʻOnipaʻa Peace March on January 17, walking from Mauna ʻAla Royal Mausoleum to ʻIolani Palace to honor Queen Liliʻuokalani and the 1893 overthrow.
Our students joined Assets School Kumu Nalani Badua and her Kumu, Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, in protocol ceremonies before entering Mauna ʻAla and presenting hoʻokupu (offerings) at Queen Liliʻuokalani’s tomb.
Kumu Hewett led the oli as students offered handmade lei. Afterward, they marched to ʻIolani Palace, enjoyed lunch on the lawn, and talked with Kumu Hewett.
