We were honored to welcome the inspiring Maryanne Wolf, one of the world’s foremost experts on dyslexia, to Assets School for a memorable visit on Tuesday, November 12.
Dr. Wolf spent time with one of our fourth-grade classes. She observed how they use the RAVE-O Town reading program she created, which uses fun characters to engage students in reading. She interacted with students and asked them questions. They also asked her questions.
"I'm unbelievably impressed by how they knew all the characters," she said. "The first is to read. The second is to work with kids who may add new characters to the next RAVE-O.”
She also revealed her research with our faculty, deepening our commitment to innovative support for young learners with dyslexia.
"The reality is that when we help that individual in those first years in kindergarten to 12th grade, the way Assets School does, we save that individual's potential for society," said Dr. Wolf. "We are literally saving lives."
Dr. Wolf said she hopes to come back to revisit Assets School.
