Assets Alumnus Brian Jones

“Learning to read and write and the drive it developed in me changed my life forever. I went on to be the valedictorian of my high school class and attended the United States Naval Academy graduating with a degree in Aerospace. After serving six years in the Navy, I went on to found my own business and become wildly successful.  I can trace all this back to the two pivotal years I spent at Assets School.

Thank you for all that you did for me and all that you are currently doing. It makes a huge difference and enormous impact on the lives of so many. “

Assets is one of the few schools of its kind in the Pacific. Our goal is to transform the lives of gifted and capable students in kindergarten to 12th grade in Hawaii, specializing in those with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. "Assets has made a world of difference for my family. Assets not only transforms the lives of the children who are nurtured and taught, but the transformation extends to the whole family. Knowing that Assets was in charge of our children’s homework, for example, not Mom and Dad, meant the end to daily struggles and the welcomed family-focused evenings and weekends. Seeing the enthusiasm in my children who really wanted to go to school, who enjoyed their classes and teachers, who grew up to be life-long learners—this is priceless.

Assets School truly stands as a beacon of hope for exceptional students who have faced challenges in traditional educational settings. The school is committed to nurturing students’ unique strengths, fostering creativity and providing personalized learning experiences to allow them to soar. I feel very fortunate that Assets was part of our family’s educational experience, and I’m humbled and honored to be able to do my part to support the school in the years to come.”

"As a single parent of two, I wrestled with wondering how Sage would receive the quality education that she should receive in an environment suited for her learning needs. Sage has hearing aids and has struggled with speech since the age of 5. As an individual diagnosed with several learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and slight ADD), I was faced with the unfortunate fact that Sage wasn't learning at the level she needed in an environment that understood her challenges.

I had the good fortune to attend an Assets School Open House and upon leaving, knew that Assets was the school for Sage. Assets School is giving Sage the opportunity to excel and grow academically in environment suited for her unique academic needs. This opportunity could not have happened without financial aid support. Assets has given Sage exposure to an education and a network that she wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. I am impressed by the warmth and care in which the Assets holds its students and faculty. It makes me proud to have Sage attend Assets. I am hopeful that it can continue and that Sage becomes a graduate of Assets School."

"Assets is Liam’s third school in Hawaii. He first attended a small private Christian school and then public school. Neither school seemed to understand Liam or his unique learning style, much less support his social and emotional growth. He was expected to meet their requirements and was crammed into a standard mold that all students were expected to fit into. Assets flipped that script and met him where he was. This has made all the difference for him and us. The love and care we not only see, but feel for our son, as well as all the kids at Assets, is amazing and comes through in every interaction with faculty and teachers. From the moment Liam is dropped off he is welcomed and embraced. While some days are a struggle, we would be lying if we said they were perfect. The good ones now outnumber the difficult ones. We feel this is a testament to the individual care and concern the teachers, counselors and staff have for Liam. We look forward to watching our son grow and develop with the help of Assets School and are grateful for the faculty and administration as well as the generous benefactors who support and make schools like this possible."
