Relive this Week's Celebratory Moments

Within the past three days, Assets School has announced donations totaling $3.5 million for the Great Minds Capital Campaign.

On August 25, 2026, The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation awarded Assets School $3 million to the Great Minds Capital Campaign, marking the largest donation in the school’s history. The gift will create the Clarence T.C. Ching Neighborhood, featuring purpose-built classrooms for music, art, drama, and robotics/makerspace centered around a courtyard.

Assets High School students and faculty are pictured with Assets Trustee Gregory Sato, Head of School Ryan Masa, Trevor Jann, Vice President of Institutional Advancement Linda Jameson Myers, Dramatic Arts Teacher Shannon Patalano, Former Assets Parent Dexter Mar, Assistant Head of School and Director of Admissions Sandi Tadaki, and K-8 Principal Sungalina Lee.

During Friday’s playground build, two volunteers with a special connection to Assets made a meaningful announcement. Former Assets parent Dexter Mar and his nephew, Trevor, who traveled from California to participate in the build, shared that they are honoring the legacy of Dexter’s late son, Zachary Mar, an Assets graduate, and his late wife, Faye Fujisaki Mar, a Broadway and Off-Broadway dancer, with a $500,000 gift to the Assets Great Minds Capital Campaign.

Zachary graduated from Assets in 2008 and performed on stage both at Assets and at Diamond Head Theatre. Inspired by his mother’s career as a Broadway and Off-Broadway dancer, he developed a passion for theatre of his own. The gift will name the Radiant Star Performing Arts Studio Honoring Zachary and Faye Mar, a future space within the Clarence T.C. Ching Neighborhood.

We are deeply grateful for the vision and generosity behind these investments and excited for what it will make possible for the future of Assets!
