K-8 Teaching Positions
Grade 5-6 Second Teacher (Long Term Sub)
Assets School seeks a Second Teacher for Grades 5-6 who will be a Long Term Sub.This is a co-teaching position and includes supervisory duties. Other instructional responsibilities are determined along with the Lead Teacher and Curriculum Coach.
Candidates must be passionate about learning and able to differentiate curriculum for the diverse learning needs of students who are gifted and/or have learning differences. They need to have strong classroom management skills and prior teaching experience.
The ability to successfully collaborate with other teachers and effectively communicate is essential. Experience with our student population is preferred, but interest and high willingness to learn are also welcomed.

K-8 Music Teacher Assets School seeks a K-8 Music Teacher for the 2022-2023 School Year. Duties include teaching music and music-related subjects for grades K-8th and providing supervision during outdoor times as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Instructs students in subject matter utilizing various teaching methods such as demonstration and hands-on application
- Prepares teaching outline for course of study.
- Evaluates progress, records results, and issues.
- Maintains discipline in classroom
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, music-related educational conferences and related teacher training workshops.
- Collaborate with teachers, including other resource teachers such as Performing Arts Teacher and Art Teacher to ensure quality of Resource Program.
- Develop music programs such as a Spring Music Program, Choir, etc.
- Incorporate music to school experiences such as school assembly, kupuna (grandparents) day and other traditional events.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Degree in content area of responsibility. A Master’s Degree is preferred.

Middle School (7th and 8th grades, multi-age classes) Second Classes
Department: Faculty; 9-month position.
Hours: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. M-F
About the Position:
The Middle School second teacher plays a crucial role in co-facilitating alongside the Lead Teacher in subject-specific 7th and 8th grade Science, Literacy, or Humanities classes. They provide support by assisting with lesson plans, supervision, and relationship-building while bringing their own talents and passions to our school community. Second teachers conduct their own math classes that range in content, and may be required to facilitate small group lessons in their particular subject.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance, classroom management and student monitoring & support during whole group instruction (typically 14-16 students).
- Supervise students during times such as recess, lunch, snack, etc. as assigned
- Responsible for developing and implementing instruction for the math group (typically 6-8 students), including assigning homework and feedback if applicable.
- May be requested to teach additional subject(s) in addition to the math group
- Support in homeroom class as needed, set-up systems, procedures and schedules for math
- Assists in administering individual and group testing as needed
- Helping to provide support as needed to special events, such as field trips, move-up days, 8th grade recognition ceremony
- Takes notes and contributes when appropriate to parent conferences or other parent communications
- Perform duties as assigned by lead teacher, curriculum coach, and/or K8 Principal
- Facilitate Enrichment Classes
- Communicates regularly with the lead teacher about upcoming lesson plans
- Participates in mandatory Assets training

K-8 Floating Teacher Aide
K-8 Floating Teacher Aide
About the Position: Candidates must be passionate about learning and able to understand the diverse learning needs of students who are gifted and/or have learning differences. The ability to successfully collaborate with other teachers and effectively communicate is essential. Experience with our student population is preferred, but interest and high willingness to learn are also welcomed.
- Hours: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 9-month school calendar position.
- Provide supervision and lessons when appropriate to different age groups, respectively. Ratio is typically 8-10 students per adult.
- Provide supervision during After School Care: M, T, Th, F: 2:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Wednesdays: 1:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Facilitate Enrichment Class (e.g., jewelry making, block play, cooking, etc., in an area of interest of the candidate and/or students); no enrichment class on Wednesdays
- Provide supervision during recess and eating times. May substitute during teacher absences. Duties and Responsibilities are flexible and responsive to the needs of the school.

We highly desire candidates who have knowledge of/experience with multi-sensory learning as well as the ability to assess a literacy/reading program with students. Curriculum Coach
Position Title: Curriculum Coach
The Curriculum Coach is part of the Curriculum Department of Assets K-8 School program and is responsible for the educational and instructional leadership of the school. The Curriculum Coach ensures that the curriculum, practices and pedagogy are in accordance with the mission and vision of the school and the unique student-population it serves.
In addition to working directly with students, Curriculum Coach works in partnership with K-8 teachers and staff members, support staff, administration and families. As the needs of the school evolve, the expectation is that the Curriculum Coach will proactively and assertively provide the educational leadership necessary to meet the mission of the school. Applicants are requested to be committed to continue their learning about the profile of the students, including but not limited to 2e(twice exceptional) learners, gift and talented education and remediation practices. The expectation is that the Curriculum Coach will be a lifelong learner.

Reports to K-8 Principal
Duties/Responsibilities
- Actively assist and if applicable, actively coach and/or mentor staff members to ensure that practices such as multi-sensory learning, differentiated instruction and other hallmarks of the curriculum are occurring with integrity and as intended
- Oversee Parent Educational Workshops; Serve as liaison between parents, community members and others, to increase understanding of student profiles.
- Placement of teaching teams; student placement with respect to class assignments.
- Help support teachers with respect to expectations and responsibilities of their roles including new teacher orientation.
- Attend professional development, identify and create profession development and assist in helping to create the great sequence of professional development.
- Asses all parts of the K-8 Program, including but not limited to report cards, testing, family-communication, to ensure that such practices meet a high standard.
- As needed, explore and recommend way to alter or enhance all areas of curriculum, including to ensure a consistency of practices amongst classes.
- Be familiar with interpreting psychoeducational evaluations to facilitate individual student learning profiles and help to design and implement appropriate classroom and program level supports.

Clinical Psychologist
FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Assets School is looking for one full-time or two part-time Hawaii-licensed clinical psychologists with experience in testing related to learning differences (i.e., dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and other school-related challenges (e.g., Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Executive Dysfunction). This is an opportunity to work at Assets School’s newly created Transforming Lives Center, the first private school-based full resource center on Oahu. Assets School is the only K-12 private school in Hawaii specializing in educating children who are gifted, dyslexic, or learn differently.
JOB SUMMARY
Supervise and mentor graduate-level Practicum Students or Interns in the administration and interpretation of various assessments with primary focus on cognitive, achievement, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Executive Function measures. Coaching and oversight in the communication of findings to clients are required. Where possible, supervision may be done in person or virtually. Hours will be aligned with practicum students’ availability and clinical psychologist's schedule. The position is expected to be year-round and on-site at Assets School’s K-8 campus, located at 1 Ohana Nui Way. Collaboration with Higher Education faculty is required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Clinical Psychology licensure
- Approachable, empathic, and collaborative with excellent verbal/written communication, executive function, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in:
- Assessing students using the following tools: Cognitive tests (WISC-V, WAIS-IV, WJ-4 Cognitive), achievement tests (WIAT-4, WJ-4 Achievement), BASC-3, BRIEF-2, Conners, and any other appropriate testing.
- Interviewing clients for relevant information
- Summarizing data from multiple sources
- Writing reports
- Communicating findings verbally and in writing in a manner that is comprehensible to families and others.
- Competent in assessing students with learning differences and/or other learning challenges–i.e., understands the hierarchy of foundational literacy skills, is able to task analyze academic activities such as written expression to identify where intervention is required in the continuum of skills.
- Savvy: able to understand and communicate how clients’ cultural backgrounds and academic experiences may impact test performance and results.
- Knowledgeable about relevant resources, accommodations, and research-based interventions available to address clients’ profiles and needs.
